Boka Kouyaté and The Djeliyah Band is a West African music and dance collective based in Seattle. Their music links traditional Djeli music and contemporary West African music together to fuse a music which is cross-disciplinary, multi-cultural and highly innovative. Originally orchestrated by multi-talented Djeli, Aboubacar “Boka” Kouyaté, this band has been working together since 2015, keeping the beat of mother Africa alive through the music’s oral tradition and pulsating movements.
