Double Bass performs Thematic Improvised Compositions. It’s instrumentation features 2 upright bass players and 1 drummer. The group was formed through the inception of pianist/composer Nelda Swigget’s, Alaska Suite project. Each performance of The Alaska Suite features an improvised section with drummer Adam Kessler and bassist Chris Symer inspired by the theme Havoc. The duo enjoyed creating together so much, they decided to elaborate on the idea and perform on it’s own. The idea to add a second upright bass player was then established to further develop a unique and creative concept. The trio creates improvised compositions based on words, themes, and images, intertwining them with predetermined compositions and feels.
