Every Monday, with occasional exceptions for holidays or special events, The South Hudson Music Project presents New Music Mondays from 7.30- 9 p.m. at The Royal Room. Typically they are followed by the Monday Night Jazz Jam, at 9, hosted by Thomas Marriott.
New Music Mondays focuses on improvised music, experimental music, and the outer boundaries of jazz. Many New Music Mondays feature the Royal Room Collective Music Ensemble. Other nights are often led by members of the ensemble, sharing the same pursuit of combining composition, improvisation, conduction and other avenues to foster the new and unexpected.
Tonight will feature a free improvised quintet led by Haley Freedlund. Other players include: Abbey Blackwell, Ray Larsen, Stephen Moore, and Evan Woodle.
Haley Freedlund (they/she) is a trombonist, tour manager, project producer, and photographer based in Seattle, WA. In all the work they do, Haley is committed to supporting efforts for new music, large ensembles, nontraditional instrumentation, and uplifting underrepresented artists from all walks of life.

Haley is the lead curator and producer of Racer Sessions, and has co-curated the Seattle Improvised Music Festival since 2018.
