Celebrate Valentine’s Day at the Royal Room with the power and passion of Seattle’s premier Argentine tango quintet Tangoheart.

Now an annual Seattle tradition, Tangoheart returns to the Royal Room to bring the magnificent music of Piazzolla to life for an evening of romance and beauty. The year’s show also will feature traditional works of his greatest contemporaries: Osvaldo Pugliese, Edmundo Rovera, and Anibal “Pichuco” Troilo.

Astor Piazzolla (1921 -1992) made an indelible mark on 20th century music with his fusion of traditional tango, jazz and classical music. In a class of its own, his music continues to be performed regularly by orchestras and smaller ensembles throughout the world. Far too rarely, however, is the repertoire heard in its original quintet form and with his signature instrument, the bandoneon. The Tangoheart “Valentine Show” is one of those rare Seattle opportunities and not to be missed!

Tangoheart has been performing both traditional Argentine tango and Piazzolla for more than two decades, They are known throughout the Northwest for their danceable drive and emotional interpretations. The group is led by bandoneonista Bertram Levy and highlights Andy Carr on piano, Ruthie Dornfeld on violin, Dorothy Shapiro on viola, and Todd Gowers on bass.
