From Bulgaria via Vienna, embodying generations of musical talent an inspiration, the Wladigeroff Brothers are concluding their first-ever North America tour at the Royal Room with their signature Balkan-klezmer-jazz fusion style of performance.
Alexander and Konstantin were born in Sofia, Bulgaria, at the home of renowned conductor and composer Alexander P. Wladigeroff (1933-1993) and actress Velichka Chobanova – Vladigerova. They are the third generation of a well respected musical family; their grandfather Pancho Wladigeroff (1899-1978) was arguably the most influential Bulgarian composer of all time. The twins graduated from the Lyubomir Pipkov National Music School, the Pancho Vladigerov National Music Academy, as well as the University of Music and Performing Arts and the Vienna Conservatory. They have been living in Vienna for over 25 years.
Alexander (trumpet, flugelhorn, piano) and Konstantin (piano, clarinet, composition) combine modern and traditional instrumentation with folk, swing, and jazz rhythms. They have released six albums of original compositions, are regulars on the jazz music circuit in Austria and Bulgaria, and have toured throughout Europe, Africa, and Latin America.
