The Bushwick Book Club Seattle presents original music inspired by Emily St. John Mandel’s “Station Eleven”

Since 2010, The Bushwick Club Seattle has produced monthly concerts of original music inspired by books. This month features Emily St. John Mandel’s “Station Eleven,” part of the organization’s 2026-2027 Don’t Tell Me The Odds! season.

A flu pandemic wipes out most of humanity in a matter of days. Fifteen years later, the Traveling Symphony moves between scattered survivor settlements performing Shakespeare and music, their motto: “Because survival is insufficient.” Kirsten was a child actress the night it all began; now she’s onstage in the ruins of the old world, making something beautiful. Mandel’s haunting novel asks what we hold onto when everything else is gone and answers with art, memory, and the strange grace of human connection.
