Rachel Sumner & Traveling Light craft bold, literary folk music with the grit of bluegrass and the intimacy of a string band gathered around one mic. Fronted by award-winning songwriter Rachel Sumner—whose original songs are archived in the Library of Congress—the band brings together guitar, fiddle, banjo, and upright bass in arrangements that are both precise and raw. The band explores themes of resilience, justice, and feminine power through haunting ballads and driving tunes. Their sound is rooted in tradition but never bound by it—what they call Femericana.
