10th Year Anniversary of Element 115 (Uup) with Gretta Harley and a 10-piece Orchestra AND a rare performance of We Are Golden with Sarah Rudinoff and Gretta Harley

Composer Gretta Harley wrote the song cycle, “Element 115 (Uup) that tracks the humbling and human experience of falling in love, losing that love, and the subsequent stages of grief, regret, rejection, anger and finally acceptance. The music shares this process through songs of deep reflection, baring the soul, and ultimately healing the broken heart, allowing the ability to love again.

Gretta recorded the song cycle in 2014 and 2015 with renowned producer, Kramer (Low, Bongwater, Galaxie 500…), the two of them playing all the instruments. Gretta self-released the record, and offered it up as the “Slow Listening Movement,” challenging her audience to experience the entire 43-minute song cycle in one sitting without distraction. Her experience of writing, recording and self-releasing “Element 115 (Uup) garnered Harley a contract with New York City music publication, “New Music Box” to write the experiences in three essays/monthly editions. This record garnered loving and exciting reviews, worldwide, and she even toured Europe to share the music.

In 2015 Gretta partnered with celebrated arranger, Andrew Joslyn to create a lush and beautiful orchestral version of the song cycle to be performed live at a sold out Royal Room concert. Gretta was working to bring the chamber orchestra to other venues when her beloved friend got sick and she became his caregiver. This music did not receive another audience– until now. After a fan pointed out that it is now ten years since the release of “Element 115 (Uup)” she decided to give this orchestral version a second hearing, finally.

We Are Golden is Sarah Rudinoff and Gretta Harley. They recorded with producer Martin Feveyear nearly 20 years ago with cellist Joshua Roman and a 7-piece band. The band wowed Seattle audiences for two plus years at various venues and television appearances. Sarah and Gretta were working on a second album when they found themselves writing the play, “These Streets” which sold out ACT Theatre for a three week run. The rock music play is about the women in Seattle in the late 1980s/early ’90s. Once in a while life brings Sarah and Gretta’s musical lives back together. They will play songs from the record and the play. This is going to be a very very special evening.
