Kray Van Kirk

Singer-songwriter / storyteller down on the OR-CA border. Show with the Portland Folk Society on Friday November 20th. Looking to come up to Seattle the same weekend. Promoting the new CD, EMPIRE.

The show is folk Americana with Celtic roots, aimed at new stories and new myths for the 21st century so that absolutely everyone, of all identities and histories, can know they have a verse in the shouted poetry of dawn.

The new CD, Empire, is currently #17 on the FolkDJ album charts, and includes Fury Road, by Joe Jencks and me. My previous release was a live concert CD, Kray Van Kirk – Live at the Acorn, selected as Album of the Month by Transatlantic Conversations on CelticMusicRadio.net.

“Kray Van Kirk is a gifted songwriter whose allegorical weave of contemporary and mythological themes is both remarkable and tremendously relevant. A stellar and meticulous musician, equally rooted in the mind and the heart.”
Joe Jencks

“Every time I play cuts off The Midnight Commander, listeners ask ‘Who’s that?’ It’s Kray Van Kirk and there’s none like him.”
Auntmama ‘Sunday Folks’ DJ, KBCS Seattle, WA

“The singer-songwriter, in his Edinburgh debut, was not the reason I arrived early but was certainly why I stayed late”
Daily Fringe Review, Edinburgh, Scotland

Jane Symmes

On May 15th I released my debut album Fool. I’ve spent the last two years working on this record, and I am so excited it’s finally out. Fool is an intimate, introspective body of work that explores the vulnerability of wanting more from life while grappling with self-doubt. The tension between believing in your purpose and fearing you’re foolish for trying. The album’s emotional core is captured in the closing track’s refrain: “Am I just a fool to believe in myself?”
