Japanese artist Kumiko Hisano to make Seattle debut at the International Women in Jazz Concert
The 5th Annual “International Women in Jazz Concert,” on September 26, 2026, from 2 pm – 4 pm at the Royal Room, features the winner of the Kobe Jazz Queen Competition, Kumiko Hisano, and local women jazz artists representing music from around the world. The program is sponsored by the Seattle-Kobe Sister City Association, 4Culture and The Royal Room. Admission is $5; reservations are required.
Kumiko Hisano, the 2026 Kobe Jazz Queen, has performed throughout Japan, in the Baltic states, and has participated in gospel workshops in New York and across the U.S. Accompanying her at the Royal Room will be David Joyner, piano; Clipper Anderson, bass; and Mark Ivester, drums. The performance will also feature Lulu Swing, an all-women music ensemble, specializing in 1930s hot club swing with a French twist. Pianist Marina Albero will close the show with a blend of classical jazz, Cuban and Catalonian traditional music, and Brazilian Soul. She will be joined by vocalist Adriana Giordano, and Jeff Busch on percussion.
This program was made possible through the generous support of 4Culture.
