Mirabai Kukathas is a storyteller. A playwright, guitarist, and (maybe most importantly) a singer/songwriter, she loves nothing more than telling an absurd story with an honest emotional core. The songs of this genre-blending “floral folk goddess” are characterized by vulnerable lyrics, walls of harmony, collaboration with friends, and a refreshing blend of irony and sincerity. Mirabai was born and raised in Seattle, Washington, although she also grew up in her mother’s native Malaysia. She’s garnered such honors as the Robert Bloch Award for Music, placing at MoPop’s SoundOff, being named one of the Gates Foundation’s 100 Local Changemakers, winning the Young Playwrights Project (twice), and being chosen for the Seattle Opera’s Creation Lab. Since 2020 Mirabai has released 10 singles, 2 EPs, and 2 full-length albums – executing everything with a level of honesty that is equal parts hilarious, heartbreaking, and hopeful. Her art is an act of healing; a confusing celebration of her culture, community, identity, and life.

Starting out as a solo musician from late 2017 – 2021, Darla Rae formed “Craetorus” in 2021 based out of Kitsap, WA. In recent years, musicians Jon Garber (bassist), Lychen Gipaya (drummer), Ryan Anthony Brooks (lead guitarist) & Danilo Martinez (keyboardist) have joined creative forces to bring light to themes of oppression, strife and racism amongst our blended BIPOC/LGBTQ+ communities. Their lyrics are described as contemplative with tinges of melodic catchiness, with enough to leave you with a yearn for self reflection. Inspired by art pop, avant garde jazz and r&b, psychedelia and strange; they’ve made a conglomeration of it all to make Craetorus’ sound distinct of others. Their first ever EP, released in September 2023, “Odes to the Toads” is available anywhere you stream music

Yearn is the solo project of Seattle based multi-instrumentalist Lily Minke Tahar (of Day Soul Exquisite, FEM Du Lit, Scorpio and the Hunter, to name a few)

Poetic, and poignantly lyrical, Yearn’s sound is buoyed by Tahar’s virtuosity as she moves gracefully from guitar, to piano, bass and drumset. The combination of these elements culminates in a one of a kind performance charged with emotion and urgency.

Yearn’s forthcoming recording debut, Shapeshifter (to be released spring 2025 on La Fem Records), tells a story of gender transition, housing insecurity, love, loss and the search for freedom in a colonized Pacific Northwest. The 13 tracks of genre bending post-americana folk unfold like a road trip of Washington state on Ketamine; at once a triumphant celebration of self and a harrowing depiction of life in the post-holocene.
