Every Monday, with occasional exceptions for holidays or special events, The South Hudson Music Project presents New Music Mondays from 7.30- 9 p.m. at The Royal Room. Typically they are followed by the Monday Night Jazz Jam, at 9, hosted by Thomas Marriott.

New Music Mondays focuses on improvised music, experimental music, and the outer boundaries of jazz. Tonight’s featured group is Odd Balance Quintet.

Odd Balance is a string quintet which aims to contribute inventive yet approachable modern chamber music to the Seattle area’s music scene. Their current repertoire consists entirely of works written by local bassist and composer Moe Weisner, whose music carries influences from Claude Debussy, Wayne Shorter, Frank Zappa, and Alice in Chains.
Personnel:
Libby Phelps – Violin
Rachel Nesvig – Violin
Aleida Gehrels – Viola
Kevin Leiferman – Cello
Moe Weisner – Double Bass

This project has been supported, in part, by a grant from 4Culture. Special thanks to our additional sponsors Raynier Foundation and Tulalip Cares.
