Nelda and Clif Swiggett have been playing music together since the night they met in 1987. They raised their two sons, Dylan and Jack, in a home filled with band rehearsals and piano lessons, and by the time they were in middle school, the kids were performing at jazz clubs and private events around Seattle. Together, these four Swiggetts comprise The Swigtones, a family of talented multi-instrumentalists with a repertoire spanning jazz, classical, funk, and Afro-Cuban classics as well as fresh, original compositions.  Just back from performing at the Tubac Arizona Center for the Arts, they’re excited to bring it home to The Royal Room (5000 Rainier Ave S, Seattle, WA 98118), April 6.  Doors open at 5pm, music starts at 6.

Each member of the Swiggett family is an accomplished musician in their own right. Nelda Swiggett (piano, vocals) has headlined at many of the top jazz festivals and venues in the Pacific Northwest. She is an award-winning composer and has released multiple critically acclaimed albums. Clif Swiggett (trombone, bass, percussion) grew up in New York where he played with jazz greats including Dizzy Gillespie and Randy Brecker, toured with the Glenn Miller Orchestra, and performed at Carnegie Hall and live on TV.  On the Seattle scene, he performs regularly with many of the Northwest’s great jazz, funk, and Latin artists. Dylan (drums, percussion) and Jack (piano, ukulele, bass, EWI) have toured in Europe and performed at Lincoln Center with the acclaimed Garfield High School jazz ensemble. Dylan has performed and recorded with other jazz, rock, and funk ensembles including Intrinsic Factor and Circular Reasoning. Jack has received regional and national accolades for his performances of jazz and classical piano, and he writes and records compositions on a range of different instruments.
