Urban Naturalist | Eric Wagner – Seabirds as Sentinels: Auklets, Puffins, Shearwaters, and the View

Join Seward Park Audubon for an unforgettable evening at The Royal Room with acclaimed author and naturalist Eric Wagner, whose writing reveals the hidden drama, beauty, and resilience of the birds that move through our everyday lives. From swifts carving paths across the evening sky to the subtle changes reshaping Pacific Northwest ecosystems, Wagner invites us into a world where birds become storytellers of place, memory, and environmental change.

Drawing on his work as an essayist, field biologist, and author of books such as Aerial: The Art of the Common Swift and Once a Glacier, Wagner weaves together science, storytelling, and personal observation to illuminate the deep connections between birds, landscapes, and human experience. From the flight paths of swifts to the shifting rhythms of urban and wild habitats, his talk invites us to see familiar species in new and surprising ways.

Whether you’re a dedicated birder or simply curious about the natural world, this talk will offer insight, wonder, and a renewed appreciation for the birds that share our region.
