Moraine has built a reputation as an electrifying instrumental band, gaining an international audience with its unique amalgam of art rock, forward-thinking jazz, Asian-inspired music, and more. Balancing inventive composition with exploratory improvisation, the Seattle-based unit has performed in major U.S. cities on both coasts, in Mexico and Siberia (including Tuva), and at notable festivals such as NEARfest and Baja Prog. In 2019 the band was honored to open several U.S. shows for the legendary Soft Machine. Moraine’s three releases on MoonJune Records (two co-produced by fabled Pacific Northwest sonic mage Steve Fisk) have garnered hundreds of enthusiastic reviews worldwide.

Jostaberry (pronounced “yostaberry”) is an experimental art rock project from Bellingham composer Bruce Hamilton. The two LPs and two EPs released since 2020 have often centered around prog and psych, with influences including avant-garde, electroacoustic, noise, and jazz, often with rich harmony and unpredictable forms.

The latest version of Jostaberry is a live band that can range between a trio and sextet, with Bellingham stalwarts June Bash, Todd Smith, John Platter, Christian Casolary, and Roger Yamashita playing and changing between a variety of instruments and vocals.

“I give this a HUGE thumbs up. When I hear stuff like this, it intrigues me and I learn from it. This is one of the best of the year.”  – Dereck Higgins (dereckvon on YouTube)

“…always twisted and tweaked toward the art side of the spectrum. There are various sounds represented here from fusion to King Crimson styled sounds, Beatles-like moments, things that call to mind Billy Sherwood and much more. This is an ever-changing sonic tapestry that always seems to fit together somehow. It’s also always compelling, even when it gets strange.”   – Music Street Journal

“Everything here sounds like it has meaning and purpose, yet the beating heart at its core is far from silent. This is music made with a purpose but anchored with emotion….if you want more of the tasty Jostaberry experience, or have yet to be initiated, dig in.” – Kiko Jones (5 blog)
